Tennis court

Hoorayyy ! Looks like construction has started on the tennis court.
It will be clearer later as to who is doing it and how much it is costing, (as always you the resident who is paying for this, are the last ones to find out) but at a guess it looks to me the courts are being surfaced with a product called "Flex Court". Looks to me to be a kind of acrylic tile which is laid down over the existing surface like a giant jigsaw puzzle.

Maybe these people are doing it ?   http://flexcourtnc.com/index.php

The end result is something like this (except in a less exotic setting and with less tasteful colors)

One assumes after some bargaining, it would also be the cheaper option than resurfacing, and is costing less than the $48,000.00 estimated and sold to you in the in the assessment. Pity there is nothing on the LM association website yet though.

So scratch the tennis court off the to do list, the remainder were...

Tennis Courts : $48,000.00 - in progress
Pool Fencing : $12,000.00 (done already with reserve money)
Rea Road Entrance : $8,000.00
Irrigation Systems : $9,400.00
Pool Deck Area : $4,500.00
Wrought Iron Sign : $2000.00

Re: Tennis court

Maybe the next newsletter will have some information on this project, huh?

Don't forget, the second $150 is due November 15th! Probably have pigeon instead of turkey at my house because of the second payment being due.

Maybe - but the last correspondence from the board was on the LM website on June 15th - over 4 months ago. so don't hold your breath.

Re: Tennis court

You can now read about the new tennis courts in the November 09 edition of the Meadows Messenger, which is now online.
I was right...Flex Court.

Re: Tennis court

Well it looks like I was pretty far off.

The tennis court breaks down as follows :-

Paid to Flex Court International : $22,500.00 (being 50% of the job)
Paid to Flex Courts of NC : $8,252.00 (being 50% of the fencing costs.)

Final Cost of Tennis Court : $61,504.00
Estimate called for in the Assessment : $48,000.00

So the court and surrounding fence will be laid down at a cost which is 28% over what was budgeted in the assessment.

Bumgardner for some reason don't do reserve studies but I think it works out more or less like...

Total Assessment $114,000.00
Total budgeted Costs for all improvements : $83,900.00
Total Costs so far : $61,504.00

Re: Tennis court

Where did you get the final figures for the tennis courts? Did you simply take the first figure and double it?

I wonder if there was an alternative to the Flex Court system that was closer to the $48,000 estimate? Even so, who decided to spend the additional money and why? I guess the argument could be made that job was done quickly and cleanly but what other options did we have?

Ah, questions without answers, ain't life grand?!?!?!?!

Nope the costs are straight from Bumgardner

Flex Court International – Tennis court construction        $22500.00 50% of job
Flex Courts of NC – Fence                                            $8252.00 50% of job

Re: Tennis court

I know we are in the middle of Winter - but do you know of anyone who has actually played on the courts who has an opinion of how it feels in comparison to the traditional surface  ?

Re: Tennis court

Saw some father take his young kids over there the other day- with their scooters and the kids loved  riding around on it !

So much for locking up the courts and keeping people (non-tennis players) out.
