I am very irritated by the amount of cars that park on the street when (please correct me if I'm wrong) our HOA restricts it. I Every house in our neighborhood has a driveway...so why are people so lazy that they can't move their cars? I'm sick and tired of having to play chicken around them with other on-coming cars, and I nearly got plowed over by a car the other day when I was walking around a parked car on Castlebay because the driver couldn't see me.
Can we do anything about this? Not only is it dangerous, it seems to me like emergency vehicles and school buses would have a hard time navigating down these roads. Its pretty obvious the people that do it keep their cars out of their driveways because they don't want to have to move their cars in and out to accomodate other cars in their households. This is extemely annoying, and personally, I think it cheapens the neighborhood.

There was an ordinance change about 2 years ago relaxing the on street parking rules here in L-M. Used to be no overnight street parking, parking was only allowed on one side (If I remember correctly), this made driving through the neighborhood much easier than it is today.
I agree that a lot of the street parking is due to people not wanting to move cars around and probably a garage that is packed full. Some houses have short driveways, some have 6 cars!
You could complain to the city department of transportation and have them visit the neighborhood to see the conditions firsthand, but I doubt they will reverse their earlier decision.
You could go to the annual HOA meeting next month and voice your frustration........if they let you speak!

Cars parked on streets has never bothered me - I come from a place where it is expected.
I am also ecstatic to live in a cul-de-sac where my awesome neighbors feel the same way and accept it as a fact of life. There really are bigger things to worry about.
What bothers me is so many people seem clueless at what to do when faced with a situation where they are passing a parked car in the face of oncoming traffic.
As far as I know - if the car is parked on your side of the road, and there is any question that space is going to be tight when passing the oncoming car because of it - one is expected to stop before you reach the parked car to let the oncoming car pass with ease.
I always enjoy seeing what the covenants say about parking

I am aware of how to navigate parked cars, and and there really is no bigger issue than safety to me. So when I almost get run over because of the problem, I think its something to voice a concern over. The issue is when there are two cars parked on either side of the road at an intersection or turn, and you can't see on-coming cars. And I'm sure you've noticed that people don't exactly drive the speedlimit in the neighborhood, particularly on Tamarron and Castlebay.

As someone who lives at the intersection of Tamarron & Castlebay, I couldn't agree more! It amazes me how people coming down the hill of Castlebay turning left onto Tamarron (basically a blind corner) seem to think they are the next Mario Andretti judging by the rate of speed they are travelling and cutting the corner like it is turn 2 at Le Mans! One of my favorite pasttime is to sit in a lawn chair in the garage with a cold beer and watch the driving antics, some good fun for sure! Another favorite family game is to sit and watch the cars run the stop sign- we call it "Stop or No Stop", our version of Deal or No Deal!

So glad you cited Covenants 7.03. Is anyone else annoyed by the large boat in the driveway at 7322 Tamaron? This homeowner is just being arrogant. Not only do we get to look at this boat but also 2, not 1, 2 garbage cans in front of the driveway. Hopefully the new management company will be able to do something about this flagrant violation.

ARGHHH!!!I Agree 100%............what is the deal with the boat? How does he get away with that? Also, the unfinished white plywood "porch" at 8405 Castlebay, or one more...On Tamarron...left side toward Castlebay...you can't miss the large iron (whatever it is), trash can, gas can, and I think a tire??!! sitting on the side of the house that has been there forever??!!.....Put it in the GARAGE!!! I am so tired of looking at all these things and thinking to myself........don't we have covenants? Where has Bumgardner been through all this?? I hope the new company steps up and addresses all this immediately!! There has been so much work put into all the beautification at the pool, tennis courts, etc...(It looks incredible by the way!) These other things just ruin all the good things going on.........

That boat is actually on Tonawanda but regardless it is in direct violation of HOA rules. How it gets resolved I am not sure but hopefully the new management company will put some teeth into the HOA rules and enforce them. Seeing others' "stuff" left on the side of a garage (a rental unit I believe), cars parked on the grass, leaves left to blow through the neighborhood, uncut grass, the list goes on and makes me wonder why I pay to live here. The Board had better give a thorough explanation of where all the dues and special assessment money has gone or I won't be sending any more checks until they do.

Ultimately, it is up to the management company that is being paid. I think taking pics and sending it over to them might be the first step?

Although they are probably in a bit of a state of disarray with the change (we are already in week 2 of the new year and you do not have a login for their site) - you could make this their first order of business. I figure noone has actually come out and officially announced the change - so you are probably only supposed to find out at the AGM.
Let us know how it goes.

I'm just annoyed with people parking their unregistered cars in their driveway and then parking their vehicles on the street.. first of all, if its not registered and insured, it shouldn't be in your driveway, and secondly, if you chose to utilize your garage for something other than housing your car, thats fine. But stop parking on the street and crowding traffic because you're too lazy to move it!
